Company Press Release

A United States Patent Has Been Issued Protecting Electrotelluric® Oil Detection Technology and the New Digital System is Now Being Tested.

Denver, CO., July 29, 1998—Amalgamated Explorations Inc, (OTC.BB:AXPL) reported today a United States patent was issued protecting the Electrotelluric® Survey (ETS) technology licensed to MSP Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Amalgamated Explorations, Inc.

The ETS technology monitors low-frequency radio waves in the Earths natural electromagnetic field, searching for hydrocarbon pulse patterns in the subsurface. The ETS has been accurate at detecting hydrocarbon presence before drilling. It also detects depths of pay zones to approximately 20,000 feet. The survey is performed at the Earth's surface and results are received in the field, in minutes.

MSP Technologies continues to improve the technology. The next generation of the ETS instrument is now being tested. A research and development program was started September, 1997 to increase the signal-to-noise ratio, giving greater consistency and improving the accuracy of the Electrotelluric® data. The development program involved designing an on board, embedded logic type processor, and writing software to automatically control signal levels, filters, and sweep frequency functions. This processor provides the ability to acquire binary digital data for signal processing and computer controlled analog data recording. Preliminary tests of the new ETS equipment are very positive and studies will continue over the next several months. Amalgamated Explorations Inc. acquired MSP Technologies, Inc. and exclusive rights to the Electrotelluric® Survey in 1996. Amalgamated utilizes the ETS information in drilling and prospect analyzation and has offered
the Electrotelluric® services to industry partners.
